Fredrick Byers Productions in partnership with the Sensemble Theater Augsburg is proud to present THE ACCIDENTAL HAMLET as part of the 17th annual New York International Fringe Festival – FringeNYC. Performances will be Tuesday 8/13 @ 2pm; Thursday 8/15 @ 8:45pm; Wednesday 8/21 @ 7:15pm; Friday 8/23 @ 5pm; and Saturday 8/24 @ 2:15pm at Venue #6 – The Connelly Theater, 220 East 4th Street.
THE ACCIDENTAL HAMLET is a comedy about two self-styled thespians, the pompous Frederick and the juvenile John, attempting to perform Shakespeare’s greatest tragedy HAMLET as ramshackle street theater. They play all the parts, get the audience involved, and much, of course, goes awry, not only raising the question “To be or not to be” but also “Coke or Pepsi for the poisoned chalice?”. THE ACCIDENTAL HAMLET is receiving its American and English language premiere at FringeNYC, after being produced successfully all over Germany as HAMLET FOR YOU.
THE ACCIDENTAL HAMLET was written by Sebastian Seidel and will feature Bob Homeyer and Danny Ashkenasi under the direction of Lissa Moira. All three have worked together before in ONLY LOVE WILL DO and LONGING (OH WELL) at the Theater for the New City, and between the three of them have amassed hundreds of Off and Off/Off Broadway credits.
This will be Fredrick Byers Production’s 5th foray into FringeNYC, having previously produced THE SONG OF JOB 9:11 (2004), BEYOND – A LITTLE NIGHT OPERA (2005), the award-winning THE TELL TALE HEART – A MUSICABRE (2006), and COCK-A-DOODLE-DOO! (2009).
